IMG_2440 We all need a little recharge every now and then, you know, that thing called “me” time.

My “me” time comes in a lot of forms… I love to slip on comfy slippers (remember this post?), watch reality TV, avoid football AT ALL COSTS, go shopping, get lunch & read my book, light some candles, you know the drill.  Depending on my mood, it’s a variation of these things mentioned.  This past weekend, I took part in a little “me” time consisting of looking through old photos, baking, jamming out to some music, and making myself a little DIY face mask.

The best part of this mask is that it is only four ingredients, all of which I already had.

Sorry…. No, I’m not going to go to the store for 50 million ingredients and interrupt my sing along to Sweater Weather by the Neighbourhood!!! (I LOVE that song).

So here are the deets:

IMG_2438Ingredients: Coconut Oil, Turmeric, Honey and Almond Milk.

Note: You can use 2% milk if you have it, or rice milk or whatever you like, I used Almond Milk because I had it, and as previously mentioned, lazy was in full effect. By the way, use a little less than 1 tbsp of whatever “milk” you use. Mine initially came out slightly runny from the Almond Milk, I had to add more coconut oil to balance it out, and a tad more honey.

Full recipe and info found here.

If I can be really real with you guys, I left mine on for 25 minutes, and be very careful while it’s on because Turmeric is an odd mustard color and can get on your hands/shirt, etc.  When washing it off you’ll have a yellow-ish mustard face, just keep washing gently until it’s all off. To moisturize after I took about a tsp of Coconut Oil and put it under my eyes and on my forehead. After my skin was glowing and felt refreshed!

IMG_2439This is a really great, easy and relaxing little mask. Let me know if you try it! BTW- “Me” time essentials ;) :

Hello everybody!!!

Sorry for the lack of posts the past week-ish (more like 2) weeks! As you all know very well, at times life gets a little too in the way of fun stuff like blogging! My apologies!

Halloween is a week from tomorrow. ONE WEEK!

How in the h-e-double hockey sticks did that happen?

Well, in case it has crept up on you like one of those creepy mummies in every Halloween movie you’ve ever seen, I have your party essentials covered!

BTW- Totally don’t need to actually have a party to throw a party, make sense? This year, I’m all about a small little Halloween celebration.  Think themed cocktails, scary movies, a little candy, a little snuggly time, a little dressing up my doggy and parading him around even though he doesn’t know what’s going on, type of night.

Hang with your BFF, your girl/your boy, your parents, whatever and just freaking have a ball.

1. Vintage Halloween Paper Straws

H1These cutesy straws are not only biodegradable but they are so damn adorable. I would throw a party just to use these straws, just saying.  Think a little spiked witches brew + cute vintage straws + a little spooky music. Done, done and done!

2. Black & White Swirl Pops

H2Lollipops are not just for kids this Halloween… I mean, I try to stay away from candy 99% of the time, but on Halloween, you’re allowed (encouraged, forced). ;) Try these cherry flavored pops for a cute little party accent & an end of the night treat.

3. Black M&M’s

H3There are certain things that don’t ever cross my mind.  Black M&M’s would be one of these things. Like who the f thinks to make such a thing?! People that love Halloween! That’s who. I love these to throw in a cute little skeleton bowl or a cute candy dish to add to your delicious decor!

4. Halloween Canvas

H4How adorable is this little vintage canvas with the little girl and cute cat?!? I love sweet little details for decor, without going overboard.

5. Orange Lanterns

H5I’m not sure if you know this about me, but I am always more than down for a pom pom hanging somewhere. They are so delightful and sweet, especially these orange poms for a dose of Halloween fun!

    Happy Wednesday, loves!

IMG_1703Today I bring to you, one of my favorite non-indulgent but totally feels indulgent recipes for a food we all can agree we love to eat- PIZZA.

Pizza is one of my all time favorite foods, but I rarely used to eat it until recently because it felt like way too much… I mean, all of that cheese, bread, salty pepperonis, sausage, etc. Yuck!  Like, sorry, I’m not going to eat well all week/bust a$s at the gym and erase all of that work with one meal… #Sorrynotsorry.  However, I HATE to deprive myself, so that’s why it felt completely necessary to try a skinny version. Trust me when I say this, you will love it! Bonus/TOTAL WIN- it won’t kill the waist line (HOLLA!)

IMG_1700(Cold Pressed, 100% Raw)

Recently, my buds over at Skinny & Co. Coconut Oil sent me some of their famed Coconut Oil to try, mind you, the ONLY RAW Coconut Oil on the market today.  Basically, this stuff is obsess worthy/mind blowing/everything.

I’m a huge fan of Coconut Oil, I use it every damn day. Why? Because it has AMAZING health benefits, ie: energy booster (long lasting energy, not the crash&burn energy you get from sodas, processed foods energy), helps burn fat, is a healthy source of GOOD fat, boosts immunity, and boosts metabolism. WIN.WIN.WIN.WIN.WIN.WIN.WIN.

x WIN.

Skinny & Co. Coconut Oil is the only 100% Raw, Cold Pressed Coconut Oil on the market today.  They are pesticide free, wild harvested from Vietnam, and completely pure (we’re talking 12 coconuts per jar).. Coconut Oil is great for memory, cognition, attention, heart healthy, and helps stress levels.  Basically, I use this stuff for everything…. Cooking (below), and my fave smoothies on the daily (more here).

Living a healthy life isn’t just about looking hella good in a bathing suit, it’s about thriving, it’s about becoming the best possible version of yourself, and it’s about prevention/YOUR FUTURE. I mean, forgive me for being so blunt, but you can pay now with organic, healthy foods, or you can pay later with health bills… It’s 100% your choice.

On to the good stuff!! Skinny Mini Pizza, here we go!

IMG_1701Ingredients: 1 Tbsp Skinny & Co. Coconut Oil (buy here), 1/2 Tbsp Avocado Oil, Oregano (buy here), Thyme, Pepper, 1 Organic Zucchini Squash, 1/2 Organic Yellow Onion, 2 Organic Garlic Cloves, 1/2 Cup Organic Cherry Tomatoes, Organic Shredded Cheese (to taste), Tomato & Basil Marinara (or your favorite marinara), 1 tortilla or flat bread of your choice.

Step 1: Preheat your oven to 350, place your tortilla (I used a whole wheat tortilla, it’s up to you what you’d like to use as your “crust”) on a flat baking pan.

Tip: spread a tiny amount of Skinny & Co. Coconut Oil on the tortilla to help make it crispy!

IMG_1704Step 2: Throw a small pan on the stove at medium heat, slowly add your Skinny & Co. Coconut Oil to the pan, 1/2 tbsp of Avocado Oil, Oregano, Thyme, Pepper and Garlic.  Slowly add diced zucchini and onion. Saute until onions are caramelized (you might fall over with absolute love from the aroma, FYI).

Step 3: Place the tortilla in the oven for 2-3 minutes to warm, remove and add marinara to the tortilla as your base (just use a little, no need to go overboard.)

Step 4: Stack onions, zucchini, on top of tortilla, tomatoes on top with a light dusting of cheese on the very top. Cook in oven for 5 minutes.

Step 5: Remove, DIE of absolute happiness.

Basically, the key to weight loss and to maintaining your weight is to make good choices.  Eating a full size pizza from any number of restaurants may sound great, but it will set you back significantly if you’re trying to lose weight or even maintain.  It’s all about portion control, using fresh and healthy ingredients, and curbing those cravings in a healthy, sustainable way.  Wash this Skinny Mini Pizza down with my fave green smoothie and you’ll be full & satisfied!

Enjoy!!

Well babes, it’s football season. (sigh).

As in, every man I know is obsessively watching football from the moment he rolls out of bed on Sunday, until he’s yelled at to get off the couch.

Sound bitter?

No… not at all..

As you can probably tell, I’m not a sports watching gal, but I’m also not a negative Nancy, so here’s what I LIKE/can get down with RE: Football:

1. THROWING A PARTY! OMGGGGGGGG snacks/drinks/infused waters/themed desserts.  Now you’re speaking my language.

2. Mimosas in the day. Somehow football makes day drinking more acceptable.

3. If I’m forced to attend a game, it’s allllll about the outfit. Think sporty, meets “I woke up like this,” meets girl next door/I totally dig sports/but not really kind of vibe.

In honor of getting through this season of football loving we all have to endure, a lil top five for my fave pieces to get you through the longggg season ahead. :)

1. Heroine Sport Boost Jacket, $185

FB1If I’m going to be braving the crowds for a FB game this season, I need a little dime like this.  This amazing jacket is made of soft French terry, and zips to an asymmetrical dream.  Throw on over your fave FB team’s tank, and you’re on your way to being the cutest FB babe around.

2. Pong Head Game, $18

FB2Okay, this is strictly if you like to party.  Think extreme tailgating/your pongs will bring all the boys to the yard. Side note: if you’re on a second or third date with a guy, and you’re still keeping up the charade that you love FB, I suggest throwing this baby in the mix.  If he doesn’t laugh/love it immediately, you may just want to end it right there.  Buy here.

3. Bailey of Hollywood Dorsan Leather Baseball Hat, $50

FB3If you’re keeping it real, as I always do, you can’t be repping a team you really don’t give 2 s&&t’s about. I mean, it’s totally cool to throw the tee on, it’s distressed, it’s fitted, I get it, but the matching cap too? C’mon… #KeepItReal. Buy here.

4. Sam Edelman Becker Slip on Sneaker, $88 (ON SALE!!)

FB4At this point you might be asking yourself, “hold on, leather?” I get it, it’s unexpected, but with all of that other neutral ish you have going on, it’s everything. Buy here.

5. J Brand 620 Super Skinny Jeans, $218

FB5

If you’re going sporty, it’s always a safe bet to go with some torn up jeans.  Buy here.
