There’s something that happens to girls when October rolls around… It happens every year. Every. Year.

We go from #EndlessSummer/loving our warm weather/eating watermelon/wearing flip flops every day to complete and utter pumpkin insanity/buying every candle there is/knitting scarves/making DIY turkeys/playing Christmas music.  Blame it on Pinterest, Target, all of my fave online shopping sites, OTHER GIRLS, whatever. Whatever the cause, we are down to get down with Fall like no other.

Yesterday was October 1, so you know what that means….

Ahem. So, YAY top five with my faveeee October snags to start this season off right!

1. Urban Renewal Overdyed Flannel Shirt, $49

Fall1There is something so incredibly sweet and comforting about a flannel shirt done right.  This classic flannel can be styled in a million ways, and I love it as a layering piece, to get you through those days that start out icy and progress to warmer temps. Buy here.

2. Whistles Nami Crop Pullover, $125

Fall2Just because it’s Fall, doesn’t mean we have to tuck away the crops.  Thou shalt wear crops, forever.  This turtleneck crop is so chic and a beautiful staple for your Fall to Winter wardrobe.  Bonus- paired with this soft winter white skirt is everything. Buy here.

3. Bianca Sweater, $68

Fall3This is the type of sweater that I swear to you, you will wear about 95 times this Fall to Winter.  I can’t get enough of the color/bell sleeves/cowl neck.  It gives me goosebumps.  Can we also just take a moment for me to be Captain Obvious here?  The first three of this top five all involve winter white. I swear I didn’t plan this, but….. White!! So chic. Buy here.

4. Pendleton X UO Reversible Poncho, $198

fall4If I had kept what I originally wrote about this poncho on the first draft, you might feel like I had just a tad too much enthusiasm for this piece.  For once (in my life, ever) I’m going to scale back and be calm about this perfect jack… because I don’t need to freak out when clothing moves me.  So, in my calm voice, I will say, that this tribal ponch is killing it in every possible way and total bonus/winner of everything moment is you will wear this a billion times this fall/winter.  Think traipsing through a river bed (pictured), or sifting through a Christmas craft fair.  I mean, it’s literally perfect. (How’s that for restrain?) Buy here.

5. Nasty Gal Fast Lane Leggings, $48

fall5Leather/black goes with just about everything you are going to wear this fall.  Pair these leggings with the Bianca Sweater (above) and a little poncho (above), and you’re perfect. Buy here.

What are your favorite fall staples?

Happy Tuesday everybody!!

The birds are chirping, the sun is shining and I am ready for another week! I’m ready for some 80 degree days, but for now I’ll settle for that in between thing we’ve got going on. Yesterday I spent my day off cleaning, prepping for the week, cardio at the gym and then a little jaunt around town with my girlfriend.  It was about 70 degrees all day but threatening rain, so I went with a maxi skirt and a short sleeve top. I absolutely die over this skirt, it is so comfortable and I’ve styled it a million and a half ways.  The blue ombre makes it incredibly versatile and I love the super sexy slit in the leg.

This time, I paired it with an oversized leopard top, tying it in the front to give a little waist definition, with suede camel booties.

photo 9 Give me a little sunshine and a few hours of nothing on the schedule, and who knows where I may end up.. Exhibit A- this past weekend. I had another three day weekend to look forward to and what did I decide to do? Make it a four day and take a little trip to the town of Sonoma (cheers to a flexible work week).

photo 4

You may recall that I was just in Napa two weeks ago- exploring the wineries, making friends, eating glorious food, but we never ventured to Sonoma on that trip.. What a tragedy, what an oversight, so much so- I had to fix it. After finding the perfect lodge to lay our head, my girlfriend and I jumped in my little car and headed for a couple more days in wine country.

Getting dressed for our adventure was easy; I wanted something flirty, comfortable and fun to wear. I went for a drop waist dress with a galaxy print by MADE for Impulse that I snagged recently. I adore the higher neckline and the sleeveless cut on this dress. In case I caught a chill, I threw a Free People linen moto jacket over it and paired the look with my favorite leather booties. To pull it all together, I topped it off with my new favorite cap from Offical Crown of Laurel.

Ask and you shall receive. This amazing printed hat caught my eye at a spot in midtown, where I spotted a man wearing it. I immediately asked him where he got it, how can I get one, yada-yada and lucky for me, he is part of the Official Brand team! My new friend and I got to talking about this brand, the style behind it, the intricate details of each cap, and he gave me a couple of styles to rock for myself! (Total score).

This cap is totally hot with a lime green background, a fun print, and a bamboo logo. I love the effortless skater meets California living style that the Official Brand brings. They’re young, they’re fresh, and I love it.

Official Brand is available online here, and sold in stores internationally, including our own Heritage Footwear and Apparel, Kitson and many other stores in CA. They offer flat bill hats, beanies, t-shirts, jackets and other hot merch. Check out their blog here and their story here. You won’t be sorry.

This Style File was shot at our very first stop on the trip- Cornerstone Gardens. Cornerstone is the home of a series of beautiful gardens, art installations, tasting rooms and restaurants, right outside of Sonoma. As you can see, I had a ton of fun with this one- beautiful grounds, fun fit, and a little bit of wine, yes. ;)

Stay Official, babes.

Boom! Tuesday, we are here! Another week, well underway, already planning for a three day weekend coming up! To kick off March the right way, I thought I’d bring to you a new addition to Everything’s A Thing- a style post called- Style File. I’m forever stalking street style blogs, sites, mags, etc for my personal style inspiration and thought I’d share some of my looks as well. Runway fashion is incredible, but once it hits the streets, a piece can be transformed a million ways. Style File will be my personal hub for outfit posts, equipped with style tips and where to snag some of the pieces. Hope you enjoy! :)

For my first Style File, I thought I’d feature one of my Sac Fashion Week event looks. This look was worn on the final night of the week. I love a simple bodycon dress for events just like this. It’s hip, it’s young and totally fun to wear. I snatched up this Leith number up for a mere $52 at Nordstroms, proving that you don’t have to sacrifice style on a budget.

The fit and simplicity of this dress allowed me to really play up the accessories and make this LWD the hotness. This dress is completely now, as black and white is hitting everywhere for spring/summer fashion, and the mesh cutouts at the waist- yes.

I went with bright neon necklaces and bangles, and anchored them with hints of black and gold to tie everything together. My favorite piece from my full on neck party was the Kate Spade sunnies necklace.
